I switched to a leather leash from a similar nylon multifunctional leash, because my giant breed puppy grew up into a very strong animal but still is mentally a teenager, and sometimes still gets very agitated when he sees another dog. When that happens, a nylon leash would cut into my hands and squeeze my fingers, and I even injured a finger once. Was OK in winter when I was wearing gloves, but come spring I decided that I need a leather leash. I chose the round leather, figured it will be easier to hold. I am more than happy with my new leash! It is unbelievably soft, very easy to hold, my hands don't slip on it, it doesn't damage my skin, and because it's round, my fingers don't get squeezed when my dog accidentally pulls. Plus all the benefits of the multifunctional leash: can use it in two lengths, can use hands-free, can easily tie the dog anywhere. It is also unbelievable light-weight and flexible - I didn't expect that! And very expensive looking. A pleasure to walk with.
